Acknowledgment
The manuscript of this book is vast. Therefore, it
may be difficult for readers to read it all at once,
and they may find it challenging to remember all the
parts they have read before. To help readers in this
regard, some important contents are intentionally
iterated. If readers who remember the contents before
and after find such parts, they may feel that the
content is somewhat redundant.
The ideas in this book will be new to political researchers.
Therefore, important propositions are separated and
emphasized to facilitate intuitive understanding,
and diagrams and tables are used to provide a quick
overview of the relationships among complex contents.
Important propositions, equations, figures, and tables
are separately included at the end of the book as
an appendix. Even by examining these materials alone,
the general structure of the theory can be roughly
understood.
When processing footnotes, I thought as follows. It
is frustrating when you unfold a page and see "previous
book" written there, and you cannot easily find
the book even after searching the previous several
pages. However, it is also impossible to always read
the book in order while checking the footnotes. I
processed the footnotes to follow the existing conventions
as much as possible, but also to avoid such frustrations.
That is, I minimized the use of "previous book"
and "above text," and sufficiently iterated
the detailed citation for the same literature on each
page. If you see such contents as "previous book"
or "above text" in the footnotes of this
book, it means that the book or text can be checked
on the same page or the immediately preceding page.
